FAIRCORE4EOSC at the FDO Implementation Summit
The International FAIR Digital Objects Implementation Summit is scheduled for March 20th and 21st, 2024, at the Museum für Naturkunde Berlin, Leibniz Institute for Evolution and Biodiversity Science, in Berlin, Germany. Organised by the FDO Forum, this summit, following a training day on March 19th, will delve into practical implementations of the FAIR Digital Object (FDO) concept.
What is a FAIR Digital Object?
A FAIR Digital Object (FDO) is a data format designed to embody the principles of being FAIR (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, and Reusable). The FDO Forum serves as a collaborative platform for researchers, policymakers, and technologists to join forces on FDO initiatives. This collective effort aims to foster a unified approach to FDO-based designs and implementations, fostering a more interoperable and dependable digital research landscape.
FAIRCORE4EOSC at the FDO Implementation Summit
Daan Broeder and Willem Elbers, FAIRCORE4EOSC partners from CLARIN, are set to deliver a presentation titled “FDOs and Service Brokering: The CLARIN Switchboard Use-Case” on March 20, 2024, at Leibniz-Gemeinschaft, Room Hannover.
This presentation, complemented by a conference paper of the same title submitted by CLARIN, will showcase segments of FAIRCORE4EOSC’s Social Sciences and Humanities case study research data infrastructure components and services. The focus will be on their alignment with the envisioned FAIR Digital Object (FDO) infrastructure, aiming to enhance interoperability and fairness. The insights gleaned from this endeavour are anticipated to have broader applicability beyond the CLARIN domain.
On March 19, we are organising a Training Day. In the Specialist Track, Sven Bingert will present "How to connect my repository to the FDO domain?" This session will showcase a workflow for creating and validating FDOs, utilising the FAIRCORE4EOSC's EOSC Data Type Registry (DTR) Component.
